I am happy to participate in a group show of Seelevel Gallery, with a.o. Laurence Aegerter, Ola Lanko and Marijn Bax during ART Rotterdam 2016. ART Rotterdam will take place from February 11 until February 14 in the old VanNellefabriek. Visit the gallery at booth 54!
One of the works on show will be Hundred Years. It is a double image of the Bromo volcano, Java, Indonesia. The first image is a drawing from a more than hundred year old geography schoolbook, which I found in my father's collection of antique books. The other one, is a photograph made by me in 2009.
As this one composed image reveals, not much has changed in the hundred years that passed. Sometimes, traveling back to the past is not a hard thing to do.
Archival print on fine art paper. Size print: 18 x 24cm. Frame: walnut wood
Today at volkskrant.nl. Double Slit Experiment has been chosen one of 22 best Dutch photobooks of 2015 by Merel Bem and Arno Haijtema.
'This project, called after Richard Feynman’s famous Double Slit experiment that displayed the fundamentally probablistic nature of quantum mechanical phenomena for the first time in history, is a study towards travelling in time. Towards scientific principles that in theory allow for travelling through time, like wormholes, Einsteins general relativity theory and quantum mechanics. But, most importantly, towards the practical impossibility of people as time travellers.'
From now on the second edition of my book Double Slit Experiment will be for sale! You can buy a copy at Athenaeum boekhandel, the PhotoQ bookstore, Seelevel Gallery, or CLICK HERE.

Seelevel Gallery (Amsterdam) has moved to a permanent gallery space and I am proud to be part of the new group show. Other artists are Laurence Aëgerter, Marijn Bax, Ola Lanko, Eva Roovers and Diana Scherer.
'In this opening exhibition, curator Caroline O’Breen will give a glimpse of the future of Seelevel and the coming gallery season. Seelevel presents a new collaboration with some well-established artists, some up-and-coming artists and celebrates and strengthens the bonds with photographers previously showcased in the gallery.
The participating photographers all have a very distinctive artistic signature. Some use a scientific perspective from which they try to understand their subjects, others a more contemplative and poetic way. The way of approaching the medium is multi-layered, and includes a wide range of different strategies that varies from installation, performance, poetry and participatory collaboration. It results in a playful and investigating exhibition.
Opening reception: June 20th 2015 4 p.m.
Exhibition on view: June 20th - July 4th
Location: Bethanienstraat 39, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
